What an attitude!

Shopping today in Waitrose a woman accidentally spilt a cup of coffee all over my shopping. She didn't even have the courtesy to say sorry! And she was a respectable white English woman!She even became abrasive and ventuperative when I asked her to pay for the items that she damaged by getting in a huff and telling me "you could see it was an accident" before throwing into my hand a fiver and complaining about my attitude. What is it about white English women?! Reminds me of the tale of the woman on the 207 bus who was rude - except the complaint was that she came from an north eastern African country.

Another problem with a machine is that there's nowhere to sit and enjoy it quietly, so you have to go and find other shoppers to spill it on.

Its not like a vending machine, but I don't like coffee anyway, you'll have to look for it yourself.Never been asked if you want a coffee?  Perhaps they don't want you to hang around, do you look a bit strange?  Maybe they think you will be a danger to other shoppers?

Although Waitrose West Ealing doesn't have a cafe as such...there is nonetheless a coffee facility for the faithful...after exiting the till area.. on the left hand side towards the exit.

The big clue as to the free coffee is the coffee machine by the green token box, it's made of glass and has black liquid in it that smells of coffee.  An even bigger clue is when the checkout assistant asks "would you like a free coffee".

I too have a MyWaitrose card but it didn't occur to me that it applied at the Alexandria Rd branch, given that they have no café. Will they produce a cup for me out of nowhere? If so, and Ben lets me know when he's next shopping there ...

As Bernadette points out Waitrose recently introduced a customer loyalty card (like the Nectar and Boots Advantage card). One of the benefits is that customers can enjoy the opportunity to spill a free cup of decent coffee from their coffee machine over other customers shopping!To answer John's question. My post was tainted with heavy sarcasm. The reference about a white English woman was referencing a post a long time ago when somebody was going on and on about the rudeness of people not giving up their seats on the 207 bus. What they actually meant was that the two women who didn't give up their seats wore Burkhas. The aim of my sarcasm was to prove how anyone from any religion / class / country / town / city blah blah can be rude: a point that you agree with me on!

Throwing it over Ben!Waitrose loyalty card thing myWaitrose allows members to get a free cup of tea or coffee.Personally I would have kicked her teeth in, some of those stuck up cows who shop there need a good slap to remind them that they are nothing special. Whenever I go there I always seem to end up behind someone who cant decide how they are paying until all the items have been priced up, then they go digging for their card.  Even worse by are those tree hugging green warrior types who think they are saving the planet by making the assistant remove packaging at the till.They deserve a slap too.
