Spitting in public

Just read that over 1,000 people have already signed a petition organised by Hounslow Council in favour of outlawing spitting in public.I hope Ealing Council takes a similar stand to outlaw this disgusting antisocial and unhealthy habit.We need to eradicate outbreaks of TB.

Some councils have classed spit as litter and so don't need new legislation. The recent increase of TB in London has to be stemmed.

I saw a jogger spit on the grass in Lammas Park today. It seems to be the norm. Everyone is doing it.

I agree with you Jean. Spitting of quite often done in parks - its a filthy habit.

I think it is an ideal job for traffic wardens, it might give the poor  motorists a welcome break!Maybe give the community police powers to issue a fine and let the full time police officers get on with their job of enforcing the law.

Not only that but it is anti-social.But I fear it will just be another rule or law that is so rarely enforced it will hardly make a difference.Unless they give traffic wardens enforcement powers it will hardly be upheld as police are too busy driving around and the pcso's are hardly seen.
