You really need to read more widely.Chavez crushed democracy in Venezuela. Read the Human Rights Watch report “Chávez’s Authoritarian Legacy.” and you will see how a dictator took a country, vying to be the next Brazil back to the dark ages. This was a man who sought constitutional reform that would have allowed him unlimited opportunities for re-election.Corruption, exacerbated by cronyism and nepotism, was rampant at all levels of the Chavez regime, so much so that some of Venezuela's former allies refused to do business with Chavez or his regime, effectively ostracising the nation while he was in power. As to the oil deal, the nominal amount received did not even cover the cost of establishing a London Mayor's office in Caracas and the cost of administering the scheme.I'd lack to see us fracking every available site to reduce or remove our dependence on oil from corrupt regimes wherever they may be.Try writing about something which you understand a tad more than a (very) little sir.
