Best restaurant in Ealing?

By best I mean consistantly good for value and quality. I ask this question 'cos I was disappointed with a place that used to be cosistantly good for such a long time and due to a change of proprietor recently has gone downhill. I'm keen to try new places to have a good nosh! Any suggestions please?

It's funny you normally get quality OR quantity, at the Walpole you get both.No pretensions just wonderfully prepared food. The Romney Marsh lamb is wonderful.

Yes, the portions served at The Walpole are enormous and always have been! I've joked with the owners(Wendy and Louis the chef) that they put too much on the plate, but they still plate-up too heavily -  but its right to say if you go there for breakfast or lunch go hungry!

I still say that Charlotte's on Ealing Common is the only place locally worth patronising.

Phil,Belated apologies.  The link was intended to direct readers to a thread earlier this year that covered likes and dislikes of restaurants in Ealing in some depth.  Either web design does not allow it or, more likely, I do not how to do it correctly.Either way I will try it again without some commentary

Two choices from me - both long-standing Ealing stalwarts:1 - Haweli Indian restaurant in West Ealing.  There is no shortage of Indian restaurants in the Borough but this one is consistently good and costs the same as all the others.  I'm not sure about their buffet - but most buffets are inferior to freshly prepared food, imo.2 - Lisa's in Pitshanger Lane.  There is a fairly limited menu but it's extremely consistent in terms of quality (high) and value (good).  I've been going here once or twice a year since the early or mid 1990s and always look forward to it.Never heard of Hum Tums - is it relatively new?  The website looks pretty good.Experience has taught me, with regard to this forum, not to bother clicking on random web addresses / URLs when posted with no explanation.  However, my system decided to launch Philip Coe's URL without "asking" me first.  As usual, not worth the bother.  Unless I'm missing some important philiosophical comment?

I you like Sushi then Kiraku in Ealing common is superb - I've not had better in the UK

Dante's pasta dishes are good value and the fillet which you cook yourself on a hot rock is excellent and tender.  On Uxbridge Road diagonally across the street and down a bit from Ealing Common Station.  Next to Jono's the Pub.
