Seba Electromics, West Ealing

I just thought I would put a good word in for the above elecctrical shop in West Ealing.It is such a change to find staff who don't try to hastle customers, and they are friendly and helpful.My husband and I bought a universal adoptor for a laptop, the original price was £39.99 and on special offer at £9.99.The gentleman who served us said he only deals with Panasonic and all his TV sets come with a 5 year warranty.No relation just satisfied customers!

Wonder if the Ibbotsons mentioned were related to the father and son who ran Ibbotsons Estate Agents at Osterley Station.I recall University Motors in the early 1970s. They supplied and serviced two Leyland vans that my Ealing employers owed...dreadful things! They also sold Daimler cars. One, a double six, was supplied to Cavenham Foods (Sir James Goldsmith).

I only remember Ibbotson's because they lived along the road from me and I seem to recall that I went to school with one of the Keeping family.

Nigel,I remember University Motors well - its filling station, the parts shop and the maintenance shop. Of the shop names that you mention, "Keeping's" rings a bell, but I don't know why or where.  I think the little parade of shops that you mention must have gone circa 1977?  Shortly before Evans Radio was demolished?

AndyDo you remember when University Motors (opposite Evans Radio) was split either side of the little parade of shops?Joffards the hairdressers, had had a huge 'port wine' birthmark.Harris (or was it Harrison's) the newsagentsIbbotson's the sweet shopKeeping's the DIY shopThere was one other shop, but I can't remember it.

IanPlease give your father my warmest regards. he probably won't remember me but tell him that I am Bert's son and it may jog a memory.My own father sadly passed away in 1991 but I still remember many a happy hour spent in your dad's shop as he and my dad shared countless 'cuppas' and the smell of solder as he mended something or other. Remember the days when we took things to be mended?

Hi,Yes I do remember Evans Radio he was my father. He nows lives in a nursing home in Seaford East Sussex, and I live in Bournemouth

"does anybody remember 'Evans Radio' in the Boston Road".I do indeed. Pete Evans was a good friend of my father's and was devastated when he had to move out in order that the site could be redeveloped. A lovely guy for whom nothing was too much trouble and a damned good radio and TV 'engineer'.

Anybody remember when Seba was located in Hanwell Broadway?  Close to 'PX Trada'??  And does anybody remember 'Evans Radio' in the Boston Road?Those were the days - when amplifiers used pentode valves, and 8-track players were 'real' car hi-fi.

Brij Sehgal is such a nice bloke. I hope I am as active as he is when I am 80!Picking up on what you were saying Chris. I remember doing a recording for a local charity group and needed a box of blank cassettes (yes, it was that long ago). I had forgotten my wallet."No worries, next time you are passing bring the money in".I still have the hifi system I purchased there along with various radios. Plain old good customer service from a family-owned business.

Wonderful shop and lovely people.The owner donated all of the goods that were recovered after the riots, and his shop was trashed, to charity.

Seba is a great shop. It's been going for donkey's years and the service has always been first rate.
