I have a foot problem that's developed from years of running. The option is to operate but I would be off my feet for up to 12 weeks. And advised that it will be a painful recovery. I cannot do that and maintain my livelihood. At least not until retirement. No sick pay when it's your own business. The consultant suggested trying MBTs. I did and although highly sceptical, wore them daily for 3 years. In fact, until they wore out.Apart from the first few weeks where they took a little getting used to, I noticed that in just 4 weeks the pain eased and then quickly vanished. The daily use of the shoes toned up a lot of muscles in the legs that don't normally get used. They also changed my posture a little and eased a lower back condition that has been a pain (literally) for about 18 years.By month 3 I had no pain at all and after 6 months was much fitter than I had been for some time. They have their drawbacks. They are not good for walking in rough terrain or for running in. But day to day walking they are excellent. My second pair alas, were a different style and whilst better looking, never bedded in so well. But the job was done and I have since returned to wearing normal shoes at least for the time being. If the problem returns I will splash out and buy another pair.Skechers do a range that uses the same method but are much cheaper.
