Traffic stopped today Ealing Broadway -Road  Accident

Traffic was at a standstill in Ealing Broadway this afternoon, it looked like a bad road accident - does anyone know what happened?I do hope those involved are OK.

It is a relief to hear that this was not a fatality, I hope the lady makes a good recovery.

It's just a shame that 'AGNES' was so distressed and imagined much of the situation.If there is any risk of C-spine injury the emergency services will be ultra cautious in moving an accident victim.Cars can be repaired or replaced, spinal cords cannot.

Thank goodness it doesn't appear to be as serious as it first sounded.  It shows how differently people can read a situation.I remember hearing of an accident where someone allowed an elderly couple whose car had been hit to sit in her car while awaiting the emergency services.  The emergency services took the roof off her undamaged and uninvolved car.  This was in case they had suffered spinal injuries.

Well said Leslie!So, before Nigel reported that it was infact NOT a fatality, I'd already gone to YouTube and "reported" the video as on the basis of the young lady dying, this is inappropriate content (even so if she doesn't IMO but that's another discussion).

I was in town with my children and saw the aftermath. Have to say I couldn't conceive of how on earth the silver car had come to be traveling in a direction/angle suitable to impact the black car in the way it did and can only assume it was avoiding something and lost control. Secondly, as I said to my kids at the time, the impact to the black car seemed only relatively low speed/superficial and I remain baffled, unless there were underlying medical issues, as to how such injuries had been caused to the driver of the black car.

Minor neck and head injuries really doesn't tie in with the fantasy account of defibrillators and the grey car striking the black car 'with it's passenger side' does it?Glad the lady is OK. The proliferation of CCTV cameras in the area should make the insurance claim a breeze.

I can't be asked to view videos like that, but the earlier description of events did raise a question mark when it claimed the "big car was coming round the bend FROM Ealing Broadway train station direction, going towards Haven Green", Surely it has already past Haven Green. We don't need these incidents glorified for whatever reason. Especially by someone who didn't see the facts.

Glad I saw the video as is up some significant inconsistencies in your first post.It is clear that grey car's offside (driver's side) hit the black car not his 'passenger side' as you posted.I can see emergency services personnel taking off their helmets because those things are damned hot and heavy to wear, not for any other reason.There are no reports in any media of a fatal crash in Ealing.If you can find any more facts, post them here.

I find it shocking the speed some drivers get up to navigating that corner. Such speeds should simply not be possible in the middle of our towns.Not saying that's what happened here, but if anybody stands at that junction you can easily observe people taking that corner right on the edge of control of their vehicle, it horrible to watch knowing that it wouldn't take much to go wrong for there to be serious consequences.

hi therei saw it. basically a grey big car was coming round the bend from ealing broadway train station direction, going towards haven green. a girl was sitting in a black small car at the traffic lights, in the opposite direction. the grey car, it seems, misjudged the bend and actually smashed right into the drivers side of the girl's black car full on. three fire trucks came and had to cut the girl out of the black car (you can see this on youtube) . i think the other driver was ok, not too badly injured as his passenger side hit her car. they put an oxygen mask on her and took her out of the car and put her on the ground. the road was closed off. the medics held up a blue plastic sheet, and behind the sheet they were trying to treat her. they administered CPR. but theis didnt work. they tryed to use electrical difibrillators. but sadly, you could see the policemen respectfully take off their hats in a reverent way and you knew she had not made it. there were hundreds of people on both sides of the road just watching. i hope they wre praying for her. so far i am the only person who has left any flowers, mines are taped to the lampost just before barclays bank. the girl was about early 30s i think. i dont see why there has been NO media coverage of this, it hasnt been reported anywhere. Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord and may perpetual light shine upon her may she rest in peace. Amen

No Tom, it was a road traffic accident just outside Sainsburys on Ealing Broadway on Saturday.The busses were all stopped in a line, passengers probably asked to use an alternative route to their destination.Loads of people along each side of the street watching as Fire Engines, Police, Ambulance all in attendance. I believe they had to cut the roof of a vehicle to remove the injured.Just wondered how it happened and how those involved are now.

Was this not to do with the road closures for the Ealing half marathon?
