Help need pics of northfields ave

hi ya im writing a book about northfields ave and west ealing in the 70s and 80s but need photos of the shops but cannot find any tried all the usual places PLEASE HELP im 43 yrs so i lived in northfields since 1970 the book is finished but i just need about 40 photos of northfields and west ealing i remember all the shops in northfields ave and got a full list since 1970 thru to 2010 every shop can anyone please help me i will even put your name in the book !!!!!!andy

the machines i magnums where at the back of the store and i also remember playing the machines at the back of mayfields you used to have to walk around the counter to the back i remember trying to complete scramble but never did great days the best ever not like now is just shit

At the recent Brentford Festival in Blondin Park, one of the tents was occupied by a local history society.  Their display included a lot of old photos of the Northfields area.  The organisers of the festival might be able to put you in touch - or alternatively you could try the Ealing Fields Residents Association.

There was an episode of 'Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads?' that showed Michels the barber c.1974. I can't remember if they panned down the avenue though. I think it was the episode where Terry was trying to avoid hearing the football result.I don't remember the machines in Magnum Force, but I certainly bought a few records there. I do remember playing the machines in the back of a newsagent midway along Northfield Avenue.There was also a newsagent at the Midhurst end of Ridley Avenue who put a few machines out weather permitting.

Can't help directly I'm afraid but have you tried asking long-term local residents?For example, the longest-serving hairdresser in The Avenue in West Ealing is Arthur Graham and the proprietor - Richard - watched Carry on Constable being filmed.  He might have or know of some local photos.You could do with some film footage from an E2 or E3 bus as per the tram link on Uxbridge Rd which is reposted here every couple of years.I'm sure I've seen old photos of Parker's Bakery somewhere - possibly in the shop itself?  Ditto for The Plough.  Can't remember where though.  I wonder if Fuller's would have some?Good luck!
