Gino's Restaurant

Does anyone know what's happened to Gino's, the Italian restaurant on the Mall opposite the end of Windsor Road?It has been closed for quite a while, apparently for refurbishment, but a "to let" sign has now gone up on the building and the "opening again as soon as possible" sign has gone from the window, which I guess means it's now gone for good.Very sad if that's the case, as it was a really good place to eat, and one of the very few eating places in Ealing Broadway that still survived from when I first moved to the area over thirty years ago.

So Gino's is no more - sad when a good restaurant disappears. We had some splendid meals there.

Such a shame Gino's restaurant is no longer available - we always enjoyed it. However, we continue to use Osteria del Portico at The Green by the High Street at W5 for an authentic Italian nosh - its such a pleasant place to have tasty Italian cooking and Giovanni always makes everyone so welcome. Their fish stew and seafood linguine are really great and enormous! Giovanni's house wine is so reasonable too.  Enjoy!

This is a real loss, a lovely cosy restaurant with friendly staff, I loved the old school charm of the place.

Indeed it does look that way again, the "hoping to reopen soon" notice in the window has gone again. :-(I looked at the agent's site too when their "to let" sign first went up, but didn't notice that the rent was that high! I guess the lease ran out and Gino's couldn't afford to renew it, although it does look as if they were originally hoping to.Very sad, I will miss their courgettes and especially their "Filetto Gino's" in its wonderful sauce!

Sadly there is a to let sign outside, I looked at the agent's website and the rent asked is £45,000 per annum. I don't see how any small restaurant could afford that and make a living.  I think Gino's has gone for ever and if it has it will be sadly missed.

Just noticed that the "we are re-opening as soon as possible" sign has reappeared in Gino's window.Maybe all is not lost!

We went to Gino's quite often, and it was always great.I agree there was no warning that it was going to close, in fact it looks to me as if they were intending to re-open after a refurbishment.Maybe they found something horribly wrong that was going to cost too much to fix and decided to call it a day.Shame about Sayers too, although I only ever bought one thing there (a Panama hat!) in over thirty years.That was also one of the few places still the same as they were when I moved here in 1982. Not many left now......

I last went in May (seafood linguine as wonderful as ever) and there was no hint of an impending closure.I agree it would be sad if it has closed for good.Too many of the good shops are closing (see the thread on Sayers Menswear).
