No More Free Parking on Warwick Road, Ealing Common

Was always a bit of an oddity with the road being generally chocker block with all day parkers using the commute from Ealing Common tube station.But not sure that the new all day £2.20 charge will deter many of those and surely too much for locals, who just want to pop to the Common for an hour or so?  Who would stay there all day after all?Seems like a missed opportunity to me to try and reserve these spaces for people who use the Common and deter the commuters.  As it is pay by phone only surely not hard to have, say, £1 for a couple of hours ramping up to £10 for 8 hours.Or am I missing something?

No sign of the spaces filling up. The new arrangement came into force at the beginning of March and the number of vehicles using the spaces has remained at less than a dozen a day.

OK.  Not aware of the history.  I suspect that the spaces will gradually "fill up" as commuters cotton on that it is less crowded than before and £2 a day must be a bargain for a 20 min ride in to the West End.

There is a long and very tiresome history to the problems of parking on the Warwick Road extension across Ealing Common. Local residents came up with several proposals that would have solved the problems of the all-day parking by commuters and the people living there in caravans. But none of these was adopted by the council. We now have 94 spaces for all day paid parking, but only if you have a mobile and are prepared to set up a credit account. This has proved so unpopular less than a dozen of the spaces are used most days, even though it costs just £2 per day. There are also a number of free spaces but these are limited to stays of no more than three hours.Frankly, it is a mess.
