There is a chap on the A5 (just off) who sharpens scissors, shears, chisels etc. He charges £11.50 to grind and sharpen a pair of shears. Setting and grinding properly takes him about 20 minutes, so I consider the rate fair but who would do it when you can buy a new pair for just over half that amount?I asked the question on a photography forum that I moderate and it seems that the USA (the ultimate throw away society) still has a grinder and sharpener in most towns; as good tools are expensive.
