Thank you Philip and Bud for those great links.  They have certainly provided a gateway to pictures galore.The London Transport Museum collection was awesome..and I spent at least an hour or two browsing them last night.  There appears to be an option to add comments to the pictures..if, for example, you have added knowledge of the view illustrated.

For a long time I have searched with no success for a photo of the newly built 1930s Perivale houses when they would have appeared uniform, in streets with no trees and few cars.

Absolutely beautiful black and white pictures!They have a quality about them which modern photography seldom seems to achieve IMO.Thanks for the link, I'll be adding them to my collection!

Along with the expected contemporary photographs of Perivale Wood there are quite a number of interesting 1890's shots on the society's website taken by Mr J B Portway who apparently was the founder member of the Ealing Photographic Society.http://perivalewood.k-hosting.co.uk/Portway/index.htm

What a charming old photo of Haven Green. The spire looks as if its probably Christ The Saviour church, but seems to be taller and thinner. I wish H Green looked like that now.  Thanks for posting it.
