What are the rules and regulations for cycle lanes?

It seems to me that on Sundays, the most likely day of the week that young inexperienced cyclists will venture out, that cars seem to park with impunity on the roadside cycle lanes.Anyone know what the regulations are?  Can they be enforced by traffic wardens or just police?

If they're bounded by broken while line they're shared at all times 24/7 and as said motor vehicles are allowed to park or stop on them subject to any waiting or loading restrictions.If bounded by solid white line they're not shared and motor vehicles (including mopeds/ sccoters/ motorbikes) should keep out of them during hours of operation (not all are full time 24/7, eg on Kew Road alongside Kew Gardens - check the traffic signs along them), and they should be accompanied by waiting and loading restrictions operating during at least the cycle lane operational hours.

They are shared use and one can park there without penalty subject to any other restrictions which may be in force.Far from ideal for cyclists but a compromise given the width of many roads.

Apologies for the confusion but I meant the painted cycle lanes at the side of the road adjacent to the pavement.

Where? Most of the 'carriageway' cycle lanes are 'shared use'.If the parking was on a dedicated cycle path then that, AFAIK, is illegal.
