Who is your favourite Who?

Another thread is asking who is your favourite James Bond.So, with the new Dr Who to be announced live this Sunday, I was wondering who your favourite Dr is?Mine would be Patrick Troughton. I remember the first episode. I watched it at my grandmother's house and I was expecting a British equivalent of Dr Kildare. I was amazed at what come on. Incredible theme music, scary story and a grumpy William Hartnell as the Doctor. The producers were ingenious when he announced he was retiring by having a new actor regenerate into the part.

A great choice. I thought Christopher Ecclestone and David Tennant were excellent in the role of the modern series.I think Capaldi has all of the qualities to bring the Doctor back from the slightly cartoonesque character he has been of late.I hope though that they do not meddle too much with the Doctor in the future.The idea of him changing sex or ethnicity is, I know very tempting in this day and age, but it would destroy the Time Lords credibility and continuity ( He is supposed regenerate to an age in his timeline as himself, which is why the first four doctors had some string facial features that were similar) and there's plenty of room for others who play his sidekicks many of whom are just as big a part of the series and can be anyone of any background.

So the new Dr Who is gonna be Peter Capaldi.  It was the worst kept secret ever - I'm sure he'll make a good Dr Who though.  He's made for life now - good luck to him.

Oh to be a fly on the wall at script read-throughs and rehearsals. :-)Given the BBC's tampering with the franchise I would love him in Dr.Who persona to deliver one of my favourite Malcolm Tucker quotes ""Feet off the furniture you Oxbridge twat, you're not on a punt now."

I'd pay to hear some Malcolm-Tucker-style invective from the mouth of the Good Doctor. He can tell the f***ing daleks exactly what he will do to them.

Wasn't around for the first run of Dr's so limited choice but for me really enjoyed David Tennant. Favourite assistant would be Amy Pond and weeping angels put the b'jesus up me.Will be tuning in later for the announcement

I've changed my mind about the new Doctor Who. Out goes Rowan Atkinson - I want Boris Johnson - he has the untidiess haircut and dresses as if he's been dragged thru a hedge! A perfect character.

This is an interesting and difficult question. There have been several who have played the splendid Doctor - almost all have been good.  But my favourite I think has to be Tom Baker.Who is going to be the next Dr Who?  Have you any "inside" info?I've a strange feeling it might be Rowan Atkinson.There have been several other doctors in the history of films and TV over the years - Drs Findlay, Cameron, Fu Man Chu to mention six!Good question - ask another please.
