Hi Gerry, nice to see you back in action on EalingToday and hope you can get it back to how it was four or five years ago. Linda and I were in West Ealing briefly yesterday (Thursday). Linda all day to see friends and me just to collect her after Id attended a conference.Dorset is a beautiful county and busy at the moment with many visitors, though far from crowded. Linda and I have a franchise with a company who specialise in professional lawn care treatments (http://www.greensleeves-uk.com/franchises/dorset&southsomerset/ )which keeps us out of mischief, well most of the time anyway. We live in a village called Milborne St Andrew, one shop, one post office and one pub (with its own skittle alley). We get 4 buses a day each way. Our nearest town is Dorchester, which is 8 miles away, though a lot closer time wise by car than Ealing is to Hanwell. Culture wise we are a bit of a backwater, shows on tour prior to London pass Dorset by and we miss our trips to the West End. Crime? We hardly know what the term means anymore, same for vandalism. Would we come back? Well, we get a bit misty eyed about Hanwell and Ealing now and then, and then we come back for a visit and reality smacks us in the face. We’ve lived in Hanwell and Ealing nearly all our lives and loved it but we’ve moved on now. Yes, we’ve lost a bit but on balance gained a lot by coming to Dorset.
