Your views on sprung sashes please

We have some.  I'm told that they are a bit disappointing.  They need some attention as the draught excluders are now rotten.  Should we choose something different next time?

The seals now are pretty good, they gaurantee them for 5 years. It was the Sash Window Workshop - sorry got that wrong! http://www.sashwindow.com/I think they do glazing/replacement as well, i just went for the simple (cheap!) resealing option. They were very clean and tidy too, all in all i think it took 2/3 hours

The sprung ones are wooden and double-glazed.  Because of the weight of double-glazing the sash cords had to be replaced with springs so that the windows could be opened both top and bottom.That was about 20 years ago.  I believe that there is a new sort of double glazing available now.  I wonder if that can just replace the glazing in the other wooden box sash windows.What are your seals like - ours that have deteriorated look like plastic covered sponge.  I wondered if there are now better ones?

I`ve got sash windows, but onyl one of them is sprung. Not sure what the difference is between them but i got all my seals replaced by The Sash Window Company last year. Really made a difference over the winter!
