Hook & Cleaver - South Ealing Rd

I know, I know, I know.... There's another thread somewhere but!!!Anyone know if this place is an elaborate hoax?Seems to be taking an eternity to be refitted and never anyone working thereUnusual for retail refit to take so long, the motto whenever I've done retail has been "quick spin - get 'em in". Even stranger as it was a butchers before but I've no idea how dilapidated back of house wasShame to miss this BBQ weather around recently and pretty soon Pearces loyal customer base will be loyal elsewhereSpace watched with interest

They are fantastic everything we have has from there has been excellent. Very friendly traditional butchers who will get anything you want they don't have with only a couple of days notice.

We think it really good too.A bit expensive for our weekly income so we don't shop there as often as we would like.Oddly we eat less meat but enjoy what we get from H&C when we do.10/10

Thanks Keith, I contacted Hook & Cleaver Pitshanger and they told me they'll have new season spring Welsh lamb in towards the last week in April - they'll also haveit at Sth Ealing.  Can't wait.

Ah I should've resurrected this thread myselfBeen using since opening and they are consistently top classThe aged rump steak a particular favouriteSausages are superb and pork chops are puckerSupport your local High Street!!

They are contactable via their website. They do a lovely banger and many varieties. Plain pork, Old English and the Toulouse are very good. The burgers too are good as is all their meat.

They are so friendly, and sometimes cheaper than their big brother in Pitshanger. Please use, I don't want to go to Pitshanger whenever I want really good meat!,

Thought I'd resurrect this thread and give these guys some positive review.  I've been using them for a few months now as they're now on my route to/from work and I'm really impressed.  The chicken, steak mince, sausages and rib-eye all come highly recommended and my bank hasn't broken just yet.

Had a look in the window on my way to the nearby hairdressers on Tuesday. The meat looked good and the prices very reasonable: £5.50 for a large free-range chicken is a good price, IMO. Having just defrosted the freezer, I might pop in and stock up.

I also went on Saturday and the steak we got was the best I've had in a long while. Certainly beats Richardsons...I don't mind paying for quality when it comes to meat.

I went in there on saturday and was very pleased with my steak and sausages.  Im glad that the high street is getting shops of this quality.Id much rather pay a little more for good food.The Patisserie cafe has closed to make alterations to their kitchen (or so says the sign that is on the window.)

WE went and is very good but was very expensive.Richardsons was excellent but very expensive and clearly that kept the customers away as it closed.Pearce's was also very good but also well priced.  We used them a lot over the years. The Patisserie cafe on the other side of the road seems to have closed down just months after opening. I wonder if South Ealing can sustain many quality upmarket shops? Some of the shops a really tatty but most are excellent and reasonable price wise.

Expensive.... not in my eyes.Price is all relative - for me I would rather pay 10% more to have a product which is 50% superior to alternatives. But I'm lucky with my circumstances.Food prices in general continue to rocket.We purchased some sausages which were totally lovely and we've also had some steak which was spot on.Done a good job on the fit out, quality meats and good friendly service (my dog loved the bones!)... what's not to like?

very good gerry, we had a bbq load from there. very happy that this has re opened as we were avid fans of the previous operation there.everything was decent quality... was it expensive? yes with relation to tesco... but vfm in my opinion.try the sausages....yum!

This is good news for Sth Ealing Road - must find time to have a looksee soon - hope they have a cooked meat counter with salt beef. I miss going up to Gaby's Deli and restaurant near Leicester Sq for a salt beef sarnie with lots of sweet pickled cucumber and relish on rye.  Good luch to Hook 'n Cleaver.

No sign off any work done this weekI was up Pitshanger on Friday but didn't see their shop there. I'm going to seek it out to see if lives up to the billing from someI'm well in favour of the High Street butcher ahead of supermarkets

Hook and Cleaver on Pitshanger Lane is very well respected.  Therefore they will be a great addition to South Ealing road.

I can only guess that as their lease was expiring the previous tenants spent little, if anything, on maintaining the premises and equipment.Hook & Cleaver in Pitshanger are well regarded, they probably are taking their time to get it right as reputation is everything.
