Has anyone had a wet room installed?

Would appreciate recommendations from anyone who has had a wet room installed (especially in a very small space).

I agree that in a cold room it is great to climb inside a shower cubicle with closing doors.  We had one put in for my mother though and she never used it.  We enjoyed it but we could not persuade her.  If you are re-doing a room you may be able to take the opportunity to insulate it better and if you have taken out a hot water cylinder you are going to need more heat in the room to replace the heat it gave off (even if well lagged).Something to sit on and something to hold onto when climbing in and out and standing make a lot of difference.I hadn't realised recently until I was looking at baths and showers how different baths were underfoot with different slopes and textures to contend with when trying to stand upright.

I was also looking at pocket doors to make more space but we are still undecided on how we deal with our bathroom.

The nicest showers I've seen have been where an alcove or part of the bathroom has been able to be partitioned off  to be used - so you wouldn't get/would drastically reduce the amount of wet in the rest of the room.  You need plenty of space to get in and out and turn around without a large threshold to step over.It is still nice to have a floor that you can easily clean and which it doesn't matter getting wet where the waterproof covering goes up the skirting.

As has been mentioned earlier, unless it is a fairly big wet room everything else gets wet after a shower, floor and all.  Another factor is that a typical small shower cubicle with closing doors provides its own micro-climate (warm and draught free) in what may otherwise be a coldish room. Just like the old school showers really.

No but I wanted one but him-in-office mutters about movement in older houses.Bear in mind that if you just want to go to the loo and the loo is in the same space that you don't want it to be wet. I also like the idea of a built in seat (that you could also use as a shelf),  I love the uncluttered look of a wet room without all the partitions and doors - but I expect I'll get a tardis.
