Chopper/Police with guns

Anybody know what was happening tonight around the broadway? Helicopter circling over the centre area, I saw at least 8 squad cars/cans and two ambulances. I heard reports if armed police but didn't see any myself.

I saw the chopper and 3 of the BMW estate cars used by armed response teams - they hurtled down High Street and left onto St Mary's Road. No idea where they went from there. I tweeted to the @MPSHelicopters twitter account to ask what was going on, but got no reply.
