Rediculous sentence

A MAN who killed a pensioner as she was on her way to receive dialysis treatment at hospital was jailed for 12 months last week.Nejdet Pirgali, 54 of Attewood Road, Northolt was found guilty of manslaughter by gross negligence and causing death by careless driving, after a trial at Isleworth Crown Court.Police were called to reports of a collision in Greenford Road, near the junction with Green Park Way, Southall, in the early hours of Wednesday September 7, 2011.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxI just don't understand the law. It has become a big joke. 12months jail for killing someone. In my books, they would have got 15years at least. Life has no value any more. You get more for lying or fraud or not paying your parking ticket!!

I am old enough to remember when drivers who killed were charged with manslaughter, but juries were becoming increasingly reluctant to convict on such a charge, which can carry a life sentence, so the new laws were brought in.I suspect that juries and the public in general have become more vengeful since then and would like manslaughter charges brought back.

I think you have to remember that this is not a case of Murder. I have a quick look at sentencing for Death by Dangerous driving and it seems that the maximum is 5 years.
