Ealing just like Tuscany.

Yesterday was a fine suuny day. Three of us had a pleasant alfresco lunch - like we were in Tuscany. We went to Osteria del Portico in The Green W5, where we had their set menu lunch for £10:95 - two courses including a glass of wine. It was packed and almost all the outside tables(in their courtyard) were taken - the atmosphere was cheerful, just like a lunchtime in a small town in Tuscany. So cheap and so tasty and so pleasant.

Susan, on the set lunch menu it only shows two courses, starters and mian.  But Giovanni and his staff are very flexible, so you can have starter and a pud on the same set-menu deal.  This principlealso applies to the evening set dinner menu.I only ever order the starter and dessert - otherwise it becomes a heavy production and I can't do that for lunchtimes anymore.

Just had a look at the lunch menu and it looks good if heavy on the carbs. Why do two-course deals always have to be starter and main? I'd much prefer main and pudding.

Yes, I think this weekend we might go to Osteria del Portico again and have some of Giovanni's excellent lunch alfresco.  Its so relatively cheap and pleasant.
