H&F does not collect food waste.  However, separating out the food waste first makes the rest easier to deal with and allows you to save money by seeing what you are wasting and how you can change what you are doing slightly to manage food better. We put all our other dry recycling except mixed plastics into one box - not so different from them.  We are asked to separate paper and cardboard.  I find that collecting all card in a cereal box works well, and paper in a waste-paper basket and then transferred to paper carrier bag.  You don't HAVE to put everything out each week.  You can put out what you have the most of.H&F have only just added mixed plastics.  The market for this is not at all good compared to plastic bottles. We can put a greater number of items in our green box compared to H&F.The mixed recycling in a bag option is available in LBE to some blocks of flats and flats above shops. Although I do hear of flats that still don't seem to have been offered recycling by the Council.  H&F don't have a green waste collection.  They have plenty of information about composting and have subsidised compost bins, and suggest alternatives of hot composting and wormeries for food waste. They have a better website, where there is information about the dustbins you can use (not wheelies) and where you can download information to keep in PDF form.  Their commercial waste and recycling info is good. I've used this and found it easy and found the officers helpful.  It meant that I could print out their brochure and put it in the office kitchen for everyone to see and understand for themselves. They have some street banks for small electrical items (not TVs, microwaves etc) similar to clothing banks dotted around the borough.
