Best schools in Ealing?

Which are the best state schools in our borough? All age ranges please - primary, middle and secondary please.And which are the leading private schools pllease? Thanks.

Marie, spot on.Gerry, there are strict guidelines for all faith schools on admissions to prevent them becoming 'ghettos' of one particular faith. Twyford, as example, has to accept a minimum of 20% 'non-Christian' pupils.Christ the Saviour has Muslim, Sikh and Orthodox pupils whose parents send them there because of the core values of the school, respect and learning.

I disagree there Gerry, faith schools are not necessarily 'better' than other state schools. Their results may be higher but that is due to lots of different factors. Stable home life, supportive parents are key to a childs good education. Their are so many good primary schools in Ealing, with great facilities. It would be hard to choose one, and most people only use one so have little inside knowledge about other schools. There are a few with outstanding Ofsteds.I think secondary schools is where you might find wider differences between quality of education.

Ah, but Christ The Saviour is a "faith school". Such schools usually are better than their equivalent local authority ones.

Very interesting Nigel, thanks, but which are the best schools(according to current local public opinion - eg Fielding Primary, Northfields area is currently in great demand) - its a long time since our children went to school and schools change with time.

Given the pressure on place Gerry every school in Ealing is oversubscribed to some degree. Those with the best academic records are heavily oversubscribed with, in some case, four children 'fighting' for every place.

Is there a category titled best for cycling?If so, my vote would be in the laps of the brilliant pupils and staff at St Gregory's Primary School, Woodfield Road, where 90 per cent of children have completed cycle training.

The differences you outline are interesting. By the best I mean those schools which are oversubscribed most and therefore difficult to get in to.

It all depends Gerry how you quantify 'best'.Best in terms of academic results?Best in pastoral care of the child?Best in offering a rounded education?Rarely would one school be best in all categories.

Best secondary school is Elthorne High - because I went there.Best primary is Fieldingsleading private school is the boys school on mattock lane. cant remember the name.
