Save money in Ealing

The radius is a square mile... Anyway, I think we've established that we're probably not going to persuade one another either way as to the benefits or otherwise of a free website that enables more community sharing so best of luck and hope Streetbank is of use to some Ealing residents...

So that's around 100 people per square mile, given that the radius is c.2.0 miles NOT "almost 600".Just thought that the number seemed amazingly high even given that Ealing is the 16th most densely populated area in in England.

I just checked my profile and I have 530 people in my radius.Anyway, sorry to hear it's not for you Nigel but it works for some people so I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss. Some people call it 'the exchange of goods and services' other people call it sharing... whatever floats your boat but I get that this doesn't float yours so no worries. Sometimes it takes a little vision to see how useful these things can be to communities but it's not a vision everyone has to share.

Just wanted to test the '600' members statement so ran some tests on Streetbank. Even in the most densely populated areas of Ealing on a 2 mile radius (around 6 sq. miles) thre were a maximum of 150 members.Not saying that it's a bad thing, just 'over-egged'.

We enjoy a wonderful community spirit. Perhaps we don't measure it by exchanging goods and services online but by quietly getting on with it.

There are almost 600 members in my square mile alone and 100s of exchanges a year. Sorry you live in a particularly quiet area Nigel - sounds like you need some more community spirit...

So popular that there have only been three notices and twenty offers of items in the past year!Think I'll stick to freecycle.
