new community shop

A new community shop is opening in West Ealing on Saturday (June 8th). It’s on the site of the former Debra shop (which I’m told used to be Iceland  - tho’ I don’t remember that) ; it will be the second shop to be opened by the Accession Social Enterprise, their first, in Boston Rd, is really successful. The Grand Opening is at 1pm with a fashion show at 1.30 organised by the Catalyst Housing Association – who’ve recruited local people to model the clothes. There are some fliers er …flying around, and if you have one and donate a bag of clothes – you’ll get £2 off anything in the shop.

Yes Gerry bric a brac too - on openings day a Hermes typewriter , shaving brushes -all sorts - didn't see any Lalique tho

Glad to hear the opening went well. Do they sell bric-a-brac and collectibles junk - might one chance on a nice Lalique vase or a Faberge piece perhaps?

Wonderful!This is what community is about.I was stuck in traffic last night and watched the workers doing the final fit out, it looked very impressive.

The opening went really well @ lunchtime. The shop itself looks amazing- very stylishly laid out. Lots of "names" Jasper Conran, Gerry Weber - and lots of High St too. The picture framing section in the corner looks impressive as well, There is still quite a party atmosphere there

Also operating 'behind' the community shop is a mental health recovery hub. This is part of 'out-of-hospital' relocation of facilities as a result of much of St Bernard's Hospital being demolished. Some of the goods in the Community Shop eg framed pictures and printing will be crafted/carried out  in the recovery hub.Across the road in St James Avenue on the ground floor of the Catalyst building is another part of the recovery hub. This is the print shop.
