Is this Real  or a scam?

I have received in my post this morning  a message from an unknown source, calling it self ,"  The Ealing Consultative Group.They have given me a PASSWORD =====06yzfwg4 == and inviting me to click om a long  URL .Needless to say I began to wonder why someone should be adding a password of their choice?  Has anyone got a similar invitation. Are my suspicions justified or am I being an Old "Futheroo"

https is optional and no problem to set up, it just means that it is an encrypted link, so more difficult to read and check for suspicious operations.

Check if the URL starts with http or https.  If s, then it is a secure site but not necessarily legit.

My system is deliberately configured to display html or rtf emails as plain text, and all are ignored if the contents are not immediately obvious to me. Everything is viewed in plain text using a machine that will ignore any virus and will not attempt to access other locations or drag in unknown junk. Any attempt to access another location immediately opens a gateway through any firewall protection you may have and invites in any response through an established path. Unknown or dubious sites are viewed from a machine running from a read-only system (DVD).

The general rule here is if you're not sure, haven't requested, enquired or otherwise encouraged it....then don't open it or otherwise respond to it!Curiosity is natural of course and unlike cats, it won't necessarily kill you...but it might well empty your bank account.

Lots of places give you a password which you then change to something of your own choice. Given that you knew nothing of this organisation, though, it's odd. As suggested, google it.

Some stuff like this can be genuine.If you are concerned Google them first.Any legitimate organisation will pop up and can usually be readily verified as such from the information then presented.
