Goldfish near Pitzhanger Manor.

Walked past the small round pond immediately next to Pitzhanger Manor in Walpole Park and to our surprise saw half a dozen goldfish swimming in this pond. Unfortunately, the pond is thick with what looks like light green algae - the goldfish seem to be tolerating the algae, though they look a bit lethargic and less than lively.

I suspect that the Goldfish may have been won at the fair on Ealing Common and then rehoused!Certainly cheaper than buying a tank, gravel etc as we had to do.

That heron which seems to be a habitue of Walpole Park is a pathetic specimen of wildlife - its scraggy, semi-tamed and slow, so unlike the wild and lonely ones of my holiday memories in the South Hams and Scottish Isles.Hope it won't attack the goldfish.

Sadly, the spectre that is the heron will shortly see to it that the algae will no longer trouble them.  :-(
