Best 3 Ealing restaurants currently?

What are the best 3 restaurants in Ealing at the mo? Based on 3 factors - quality, good service and most importantly, value?Which one is the most popular please?

Had a thoroughly good lunch at Thai Tho, which is next to the Empire Cinema at 57 New Broadway Ealing(opp the old Town Hall). Haven't been there for years, so pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food, the very clean and soft decor and the attentive and quick service - all tables seemed to have high quality cutlery and immaculate white table cloths and tables were well spaced out - a little bit pricey but quality food, so fresh too. All four of us thought it was excellent - we'll go again soon.

I was a regular at Momento until I saw this rating. As you say it could have been an aberration and the rating is at Dec 2011. On the other hand I do not want to take a chance with my family's health and can only assume the worse. They obviously do not care about this rating otherwise they would have sought a re-rating from the FSA.

"I was surprised to see Momento has a 1 rating requiring major improvement.http://ratings.food.gov.uk/business/en-GB/392215"They really are a snapshot and perhaps it was a bad day.My local spotless and wonderful Chinese had a 5 star rating.I was shocked to see it had got a 1 star rating on an inspection and equally delighted to see that it had been restored to 5 stars at the next inspection.Perhaps a 'track record' function would be good in order that one could both dismiss aberrations and monitor any 'progressive' decline.I know for a fact that one Indian take away in west Ealing with a current deserved 1 star rating had four stars under the previous owner.

Gross! I wonder what the 'victim surcharge of £20 is'? I'm glad I never ate in there. I am looking for a good Indian that does deliveries, any recommendations?

Everyone has their own preference of course but double for Charlotte's - hmmmmmmmmmmmmEvery time I've left Terracotta I've felt that I've had a good meal at a good price but Charlotte's, although the food is decent felt like just a bit too much for what I'd had ...

I don't see that Charlotte's is overpriced. The quality of the food is such that you could easily pay double for it at many places.

Terracotta - the bestCharlotte's Place - good but overpriced imoSanta Maria - excellentCan't see what the fuss is about re: Persian Palace. The 2 meals I've had there have contained rather poor quality meat and have been bulked out heavily with not particularly nice rice. Ealing Mangal best place on that drag to me.

Ive just read the whole of this thread and have to concur with comments above Re The Harvester --- rank!I'd recommend people try Casa Roberta opposite TVU. Very nice.Ealing Park Tavern a great placeMy third recommendation would be Kushai the former Royal Tandoori / Paras on Boston Manor Road

Brilliant lunch at Charlotte's Place today, for my birthday. I had scotch egg, only with smoked salmon instead of sausage meat; braised ox cheek; and their superb chocolate marquise. All for £20 a head + service.Full now!

Couldn't agree more, a good quality fish 'n chippery in Ealing. We tried to plaice plain grilled with butter and the haddock in b'rumbs and shared a portion of their chips...delish with lemon-mayo and a side salad as well...all washed down with a carafe of muscadet white. Life don't get much better. The simple uncomlex menu at Kerbisher and Thingy is a plus. Pleasant service too - lomg may they thrive.

Finally tried Kerbisher and Malt yesterday.Love it! The staff, the decor and THE FOOD! best tartar sauce ever ...and that lemon mayo!!!!Highly recommend

I would have you to say : Terracotta on Northfields avenue. I have eaten there 4 times over the last few months. They only open 5 days a week but I have never eaten anything bad there. You have to book as they have very little seating. Santa Maria : Best Pizza in London . even better than the celebrated Franco Manca. Persian Palace: Arguably the best Irani in London. Charlottes Place is good and I think the Ealing Park Tavern makes a decent effort. I rate Kerbisher and Malt as well.

This from someone who posted "I don't want to seem like a food snob" - oh really?Their rib eye steak is good. No one ever claimed that it haute cuisine. I feel very sorry for anyone who cannot recommend any of the many excellent restaurants in Ealing and do remember that price does not always, in fact rarely equates to quality. That said some restaurants rely on those "naives"  who believe the obverse and pay inflated prices for average fare.

Sadly the answer is no John I don't have any recommendations in Ealing.  The best I can come up with is that I had a really good liver & bacon in the Fox a few weeks ago and last week I had a bowl of chips which were reminiscent of real chips, you  know, the ones before frozen ones were invented.  Sorry you think my dig unnnecessary but really, the Harvester! I have had the misfortune to eat there maybe 3 times since it opened and o.k. you get what you pay for which is precious little.  However I accept there are those that will think it is haute cuisine - fair enough but not for me.

1) Charlotte's Place2) Santa Maria Pizza And just to put it out there as they deserve more business then they seem to be getting: 3) 8 Treasures opposite Ealing Broadway station. Finally gave it ago after being sceptical for no real reason and the set menu we had was generous and v yummy!  Altho, they gave us cooked lettuce as part of this salad which was weird and we said we thought it should be Pak Choi surely - apparently not but the rest was v tasty.Also going to throw in Tuk Cho and Kerbisher & Malt.

They do very good rib-eye steaks and their salads are always fresh (at least in the one on Boston Road).You get what you pay for and on a price/quality balance they are pretty good.

I don't want to seem like a food snob - because I definitely am not but, anyone who thinks the Harvester serves decent food can't have ever eaten anything worth eating.  I was there not do long ago and a worse load of over cooked and just plain nasty junk I cannot imagine.  Yuk!

My son used to be a regular customer at Urban Karahi but after a visit two weeks ago has vowed never to return. I think they have had problems and it definitely seems like a different chef. The bhindi was, as ever, good but his Korma had a thin separating sauce and his naan was 'greasy to the point of being inedible'.My own top three are Monty's in South Ealing, Lisa's on Pitshanger Lane and yes, The Harvester on Boston Road.

Bawarchi in Hanwell is the best Indian.  Having tried all (at least I think I have) this really shines.  Have taken Indian friends who lover their food there and they love it too.  TIP - the Lamb Chops and Butter Chicken are fantastic.Santa Maria - Pizza in South Ealing.  Recently won title of best pizza in London (TimeOut) for the second time and there is a reason for that.  The pizza is authentic and gorgeous.  Great value for money too.The above two stand out for me personally and I also think the Thai food at the Forester is very good.  Although I have only tried it once (last week) it was very good and is cooked by the chefs formally of the popular Butlers Thai in South Ealing (which apparently has gone downhill since they left.Finally, although you asked for three I have to mention The Haven (off Haven Green).  The landlord, Warren, is a foody and has his own catering business - this shows in the food.  Always good value and the Sunday roast is definitely the best in Ealing.  High quality ingredients treated with respect.  (Our Sunday Roast clubbed toured ealing and some surrounding areas for a while - we won't go anywhere else now)

Urban Karahi in Hanwell - amazing Indian foodI have been going there for the last year as the service in the clay oven seems very unfriendly these days.Santa Maria Pizzeria in South Ealing - Wins too many awards not to be mentioned. Great food served in less that 5 minutes, not too bad on the thighs either.For snacks there is a great little place in Ealing Broadway center, down past Tesco.  Has lots of tables and chairs out and usually very good food. I cant remember the name of it but you really cant miss it... also very fond of the Harvester on Boston Manor road.  They have their ups and downs, but on the ups the food is lovely.
