Seen the swallows yet?

Spring has sprung in Ealing. Its lovely in the sun - so welcome. But I haven't seen the first swallow yet. Have you spotted the first swallows in the skies?

Saw swallows in Ealing skies today for the first time this year. At least I think they were swallows; they were high in the sky and seemed to be buffetted by the winds.

Lovely Eric, thanks. Still nothing sighted from our garden yet. Though I saw a falcon-like bird, slowly circling the skies and drifting away eventually - so majestic.

First swifts I've seen this year spotted today in Hanwell.

Its the 1st May today and still ain't seen any swallows(swifts) in the Ealing skies.  Any sightings yet from anyone?Just seen the forecast for next week - its going to be 23C! Maybe the summer temps will bring in the swallows.

Thanks Tony - sounds a wee bit cold in Argyyl.  Each year they fly in abundance thru the Ealing skies, but I ain't seen any yet. Maybe its the cold Spring.

You do get them but they are rarer than Swifts or House Martins. They like open spaces, Osterley and  Gunnersbury lakes etc. are(were) good places to see them.

The first group were sighted in Argyll on April 15th according to our local paper :0).   I hope they bought sandwiches,there's not a trace of any midges so far,probably too cold for the blighters only 9 degrees at the mo' and snow forecast for the W/E.
