Ukip, EDL, ?

What do people think of the EDLs publicised support for UKIP? Is it the voice of the common people coming together or a negative impact for Nigel Farage turning the Eastleigh effect into something big?

It's a disgrace. EDL are nothing more than primitive, thugs. They are everything that is wrong with people. Unfortunately you can't stop people endorsing you. We don't want their members, their endorsement or their racist opinions.UKIP is a non-racist party. My wife and I would not be members if they were.I was out campaigning for UKIP on Sunday with members, they were West Indian, Portugese, Russian, Indian, English and a kiwi.Every political party will attract undesirables, that's life.UKIP is the only party that will not allow members if they have been a member of EDL, BNP and so on.

or is this a myth put about by journalists supporting the older mainstream in order to expose UKIP. some strange things get written before elections that never are repeated after in order to muddy the waters

UKIP are non-religious non-racist party.The EDL are more akin to the BNP than any other party on this planet ,just look at the anti islamic material on the BNP website. The EDL claim to opose only extreme islam, yet go on about halal slaughter, oppose every new mosque etc.A couple of years ago EDL openly supported the new Britain First party.UKIP need to expose and distance themselve from the EDL, or face becoming another unelectable BNP style party. Muslims are not stupid, they won't see UKIP as as an anti muslim party. To me this whole EDL-UKIP thing just a month before elections, will only serve a third party's agenda.And as such I'm suspicious of why the EDL suddenly want the public to see them alongside UKIP.

EDL are viewed by many, and are certainly reported upon, as an extremist 'fringe'.If UKIP want to move into the mainstream then to dissociate themselves from such media tarnishing would only be logical.

But should Farage fear it in reality? Or would it just be some of the mainstream media's reaction to it that he might fear? Is there anything the EDL actually stand for (ie is covered on their website as policy) as opposed to the "mad right wing" brush which the media loves to tar them with?  Ie is anti-islamofascism right wing extremism?

The last thing that UKIP need is the support of the EDL.I would expect them to be distancing themselves from this fairly rapidly.
