Value holiday destinations?

Which overseas holiday places represent the best value this year? Holiday destinations with guarenteed sun, interesting food, politically stable, advantageous forex rates and happy places to visit please? Any ideas?

I found the food to be hit and miss while going along the coast, in the north it was generally better and on the islands excellent but split and Zagreb were bad.Only went for wine with seafood and what a had was good but expensive, national beer is lovely.In Dubrovnik there is a lot of information on the war and quite striking to see from where the guns were situated and attacking the town below. Walls and building were well built but all roofs were destroyed so all new terracota tiles in the city.City wall walk takes about two/three hours, longer if you want to stop and expore the many stairs back down into the city and great part of the trip with stunning views

Nerja has plenty of sand Gerry.  Was the absence of a mention for it just an oversight or related to the fact that too much sand and sex no longer mix at our advanced age?  :-)

I love Andalusia Susan - first went there in the 50s for sun, sand, sea, sangria and sex.  We went again last year to Nerja for sun and sangria - its still lovely.

By 'lynched' I meant hassled into buying things, going into restaurants, taking boat trips etc etc. Won't take no for an answer and spoils the holiday for me. Also we were ripped off a few times and then we got paranoid :)

I love Sicily. Spent Easter in Southern Spain, though, and it seemed pretty cheap -- almost certainly cheaper than Sicily. Five Euro for a taxi ride. E1.30 for a cup of coffee. That sort of thing.

Actually, I don't really know.I go to a lot of curry houses, but only ever one in Southall - 'Brilliance' a few years ago.For me, it did not live up to its name I'm afraid.

Thanks - always fancied Dubrovnik, especially before the war there. What's the Croatian food like please? And the wine? Did the war affect the old architecture? Thanks.

Some great deals island hopping around coast of Croatia at moment. Have done it twice and some of my favorite places to visit and explore.Hvar and Dubrovnik are stunning.

Sicily, just back from a week in the sun. Fresh food, friendly locals and plenty of historical sights - who hasn't invaded? We went to Ortegia and Taormina and plan to go again to explore more of the island.

Southern Spain was pretty cheap last year. Similar sun but no hassle - unlike Turkey where you're lynched as you walk down the road - beyond annoying.
