Who was(is) the best Dr Who?

How many Dr.Whos have there been in the last 50 years?  And who is(was) the bestest ever Dr.Who?Will the BBC ever ask moi to be a Dr. Who?

Don't forget Paul McGann.  Many dismiss the TV Movie - due to Canadian monies to make it - but in fact, it was good - he was good and now he is a poster up high above a studio in TV Centre and he is watching over the ghosts - he too, like a ghostly visitor from another time ...................

I do agree about how skinny DT is at the moment, F. Alarmingly so in the Virgin adverts.I like Matt Smith; is he over-acting or is that just how the part is written now?

I never felt that he liked playing the role - after all he did leave fairly quickly to be replaced by the delightful David Tennant!

David Tennant for me. I disagree with those who cite Christopher Eccleston. For me he was weird rather then eccentric.

I was brought up with Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker, although I have to say that David Tennant was brilliant. I am enjoying Matt Smith's portrayal as the Doctor as well and have heard rumours that David Tennant will be back at Christmas as the Doctor instead of Matt Smith (let's hope he has put a bit of weight on by then as he is too scrawny at the moment!)

Ah Thora Hird, a fine actress. She was always feisty, firm and fortright in her thoughts - I adore strong women like Glenada Jackson, Judi Dench, Miriam Margolis and Edith Evans - they'd all make wonderful Dr.Whos!

Tom Baker / Jon Pertwee / Patrick Troughton for favourites.David Tennant for best.I never really liked Ecclestone - too serious for my liking.  And I agree with you about Matt Smith.  In fact, I've stopped watching it as a result.

Nigel and Viv, both Tom Baker and Patrick Troughton used to be brilliant chacacter actors - they used to frighten the living daylights outa me - they scared the heebeegeebies outa me- and that was when I was 30 years old!Of all the other famous character actors that used to be(like Robert Newton, Derek Jacobi, Charles Laughton, Alistair Sim, Bruce Forsyth and Eric Morcombe and the like), who would have made an excellent Dr.Who in your opinion?

They've already chosen you for the theme tuneTan tan tan tan, Tan tan tan tan, Tan tan tan tan, tan tan !My favourite was Tom Baker, the best I would tie between Christopher Ecclestone and David Tennant.I still watch it, but think that Matt Smith simply overacts every scene and neither shows the 'vulnerability' of Tennant nor the acting skills of Ecclestone.
