Which is the best thread started by Gerry Tan?

Which is your favourite 'Gerry' thread?  Is it the best ever forum thread?  What makes it a good read?  Which is the longest and which is the shortest?  Which thread has the most laughs in it? Which thread is the most boring?Which one should we steer clear of altogether? Which thread(s) would you recommend to a friend?

I was surprised too.Active moderation - no.Taking (apparently quite amateur if the results are to be believed) action by wielding an axe around inside the comments database as a result of a complaint from the famously confrontational landlord of the Red Lion - well, that I can believe.

Weird isn't it?I help to moderate one of the busiest photography for a on the internet with over 11,000 members and an archive of over 1.1 million posts.99.9% of posts need no moderation but if we ever delete posts (save for spammers) we leave a 'footprint' to explain why.

Firstly, call me Nigel.I am most surprised.Given the amount of racist bile that goes unmoderated here I was not aware of active moderation. I have never met Gerry but perhaps it is co-incidental that the threads in which he posted were edited. I also commented on he Red Lion watercolour but from the angle of an aesthete not about the subject matter. The Red Lion has never been on my list of favourite pubs as I consider the place woefully overpriced for an 'average' pint. I would far rather use either The Griffin or The Lord Nelson in Brentford.

Gerry is very real and a charming man to boot.He's not boring and injects a lot of levity into the woeful to navigate application that is Ealing toady.

Each Posting has a story to tell.Each have their troubles andand often triggers a thought to share on this forum with friends and neighbours . I do not think it would serve any purpose to carry out the survey that you ask for. I think you do well amongst us and though i cannot say you are the best or Garry Tang is the best, i certainly think your posts are always welcome .

Some posters have not been around long enough to know that Gerry is one of the old hands here. He was a frequent poster until he went silent after we had a change in tone here due to some obnoxious posters. They how seem to be silent so Gerry is back.

At first I thought that Gerry Tan is some kind of suffer of an obsessive/compulsive disorder demonstrating one of the symptoms of this condition, that is obsessive compilation of lists, however, on further reflection I have decided that he is the equivalent of Which? (organization and magazine) of the Ealing Today area.

I agree too - the forum is a better place for Gerry's contributions.My favourite thread? - best local restaurants.  There are so many to choose from in Ealing Borough it REALLY helps for people to give their recommendations, especially if they're recent.Keep posting Gerry!

Yes, the forum software is truly appalling I would agree.Gerry, OTOH, is fast becoming a local hero. :-)

That's a shame i thought this was a genuine dig at the one man polling station that is Gerry Tan.If the eye bleedingly bad forum software from 1981 doesn't put you off using this forum, then Gerrys endless questions will.

Yes, I know, and I very much appreciate it.My thread is a (feeble) attempt to add to things with a little bit of light-hearted humour.(I did fear that there was a chance somebody might interpret things otherwise. One of the perils of electronic communications I'm afraid.)

Appears to me Gerry is always bright and cheerful. Usually his threads start good conversations instead of moans and groans. Good job, well done Gerry!
