Another Ealing Stabbing

Reports of a man being stabbed late Sunday night at The Shanakee public house are heartbraking to hear – firstly I hope the gentleman stabbed makes a full recovery, but it’s quite disheartening to learn of another stabbing in our Borough. I really don’t know what the solution is to stop people leaving the house with a knife for either the purpose of self-defence, or to go and wilfully harm someone, but it needs to stop as it will only get worse.

Sadly I do see the same old faces looking for trouble but usually at local derbies only.1st April will be a good test given the FA and Police's nonsensical allowing of 2 partic fixtures on that day. Hope I am wrong given the cost of my ticket which,like you say, should keep them away.

Sadly very high.The Metropolitan Police categorise recorded knife crime by ethnicity.http://www.met.police.uk/foi/pdfs/disclosure_2011/july/2011050004143.pdf    (Data is on page 4)In 2010-11 of 3604 prosecuted 1075 were white or 'not stated' The balance (over 70%) were from ethnic minorities with the majority of these being 'Black British'.It is a sad fact that knives are carried by many people.I wish I knew what the solution was to this problem. perhaps actually enforcing the proposed sentences would be a start.

I bet Ealing police would love the sentences proposed for carrying a knife to acually be implemented but can't say so.The sentences are, due I believe in large part to a ridiculously liberal judiciary divorced from the real world, actually falling.Source:http://www.justice.gov.uk/statistics/criminal-justice/knife-possession

Hi Simon,I really believe that the thug element is disappearing at football. Why ? Simply because they're getting priced out of it and need to find something else to do. I'm a season ticket holder at a PL club (not saying who as I save football discussion for another forum) and the demographic of spectators / fans is noticeably changing. Not sure I completely agree with it as some people are unfairly priced out of it but going off topic now. I do agree with you on the drug element though, but believe too that it's more widespread. Gang culture is a serious concern and some do this just to gain 'respect' amongst their moronic peers.Ealing Police,Thank you for responding and good luck with your work. I guess it's frustrating. If we had the space in the prisons, mandatory 24 months (no parole) if found in possession of a knife. No exceptions. Would that help ?

It's thugs who would be troublesome here or at a football match and difficult to monitor. Drugs has a lot to do with it in my opinion.
