I've always lived in Ealing and like watching old films, so in the past I've contributed "beforeand afters" to numerous websites for numerous films and TV series. However its a thankless task ashowever many you find, people are always askingafter the ones you can't find. So I'll just stickto descriptions of some locations not notedelsewhere. As there's so much material this is typed offlinein a narrow column in the  hope it formats o.k.on the websiteThese are not necessarily in chronological orderas it's a while since I watched the film. The jewel robbery at the start featuring Freddie Mills. This was filmed in Bond Street. The jewellerswas an actual jewellers in a small parade ofshops between the Green and the Walpolecinema. When Freddie Mills comes our of the shop andasks directions the frontage of CITY RADIOis clearly visible across the street and remainsunchanged. The action then moves to the bottom of Bond Streetand left around the corner of the art shop - which wasLamerton's Art shop then, and the plain brick wallwhich still exists just past the shop. The action then jumps to the AvenueSyd James and Leslie Phillips on walkabout. This was filmed in Roberts Alley looking southwardsand remains largely unchanged. The door in thewall of the school to the left is still there. The outline of Brentford Gasworks is visiblein the distance. The action then moves around 180 degrees and they emerge from Roberts Alley facing northwards  and turn left in the direction of the Rose and Crown. Apart from the building on thecorner again largely unchanged.Kenneth Williams challenges the plain clothesdetective outside of the parade of shops atthis end of Manor Road, just before the SortingOffice. The pickpocket steals his braces outsideof the Sorting Office which provides analternative location along with the Libraryentrance for the exterior of Police Station. The car is spotted in Clairville Gardens offYork Road in Hanwell. The Gable end of Hills formerviolin factory is clearly recognisable in one shotas is the house outside of which the car is parked. The Iver connection to the road of new houses was wellspotted.I got the Inver connection myself, as when therobbers car turned off the main road there was apub in the background with what turned out to be astage and hounds fixed on the wall. Googling any "stagand hounds" pub eventually produced pix of theStag and Hounds Iver Heath which remains muchunchanged signwise anyway.Along with the derelict building which is being askedabout and is probably long pulled down, there are two shots of the police car on the raod which appear to be stock footage and not related specifically to "Carry on Constable".michael adams...
