Nigel - I bake my own cakes, wouldn't dream of buying any to be honest. I don't need to eat egg free, I was just commenting on the fact that it was an egg free cake shop.Gerry - The House is a Cafe, there is also a cake shop that has opened - can't remember the name.

DianeYou need to try any of the Persian shops opposite where Daniel's used to be in west Ealing.Loads and loads of egg free cakes.

Talking of Cafe's and I'll introduce cake shops too! A new one has opened right next door to an existing one (forget the  name of this one) in West Ealing called The House or something similar. Also a new cake shop has opened that I had a look in yesterday selling gluten free/vegetarian cakes. I assume that means egg free. Anyway my son and I didn't like what was on offer I'm afraid, lots of synthetic looking cream. It's obviously a destination place for people to order occasion cakes - not sure how long that will survive but I wish it well!

I know the new owner, a wonderful lady called Morna. There were delays in transferring the lease but it has all gone through finally. The builders are in, refurbishing and extending the cafe, and it should reopen in about 6-8 weeks. Hope to see you in there soon!

We went to a nice little café in the Uxbridge Rd, just opposite Lidl. May actually be better than Gold and less than 5 minutes' walk away.

They were 'hammering about' in there on Wednesday last when I was stuck at the lights.

Walked past today and there were no signs of life or any work going on but the sign on the front says that they will be re-opening in June and are looking for staff.

They have a website but it makes no mention of the place even being closed, let alone when it will reopen.

It's reopening as a cafe after refurbishment. I know the new owner.

My daughter works around the corner and 'the word on the street' is that it is not re-opening as a café. If that is correct it's a shame.

I heard it's been taken over by the people who supply cakes to W7Emporium so it looks like we'll have another deli/cafe or a cake shop!

Looks like building work as there are some large pieces of building material propped against the inside of the shutter.
