Resurfacing the wrong roads

If I could choose what roads to resurface that are not on the pdf file in the news story, then these are just some that come to mind and would be first on my list:-Church Road, W7, - especially the west side - from Uxbridge Road to Hanwell railway bridge;Manor Road, W13, the whole length and width;Mattock Lane, W5, from The Green to (near) The Questors;Queens Road, W5, the whole length and widthIf I was only allowed one of the four then it would have to be Church Road since I use it every day and am like a jockey when riding my bicycle along it!

Mr. GillIf you have influence read my earlier posting re the appalling state of the paving on the south side of Pitshanger Lane going east from Princes Gardens. Better still see it for yourself, then arrange for replacement in paving slabs to match the opposite footpath and those in the shoping portion of Pitshanger Lane and Princes Gardens. Please keep this Forum updated as to your progress in this matter, many thanks.

Grange Road W5 is full of pot holes - been like it for years.

So the previous administration, with a pot 25% more than currently available, had no excuse for ignoring the gross and unsafe state of the paving to the north side of Pitshanger Lane east of Princes Gardens, which has not been resurfaced for near a quarter of a century.

Ben,Labour has cut the amount spent on resurfacing our roads and footpaths quite considerably.  It has spent £6 million in the last two years and is proposing £5.5 million next year and £3.5 million the year after.  They are spending more next year so that people see a burst of activity just before the next local election in May 2014.  Overall Labour will allocate £15 million of your money to resurfacing roads and pavements in their four years compared to £25 million under the previous Conservative administration.  So a 40% cut.  In spite of the relatively tight economic times the Labour council is spending £10 millions on capital projects that residents would not consider a priority.  £5m for an uneconomic car park in Southall is top of the waste list.  Add to that new offices, furniture and IT for council staff plus refurbishing the civic part of the town centre and you get to big money.  Labour could fix these roads but it has other priorities.

"Let's add Clayponds Avenue to the list from Occupation Lane to Springvale Avenue".Slight problem, part is in Ealing and the greater part is in Hounslow (the borough boundary is, I think, just as you come round the bend by the cemetary wall and path).Springvale to Clayponds Gardens (although in W5) is definitely in Houslow.

It'a also interesting to see several roads in nice Conservative wards (i.e Hanger Hill, Cleveland, Greenford Green, Ealing Broadway) having their roads resurfaced alongside roads in split wards (i.e Perivale).

Let's add Clayponds Avenue to the list from Occupation Lane to Springvale Avenue. Queen's Road, listed on my first posting, was on the list after all.

South Ealing Road, between Ealing Park Tavern and the lights at Popes Lane, is pretty awful.

It's the same on Boston Road Ben. Some slabs have been damaged by crossovers (that wouldn't happen if they were properly laid) but that's nothing compared with the number of cracked and broken slabs.

I agree - there are certainly tens, possibly hundreds of roads in the borough that require attention. But is the money there to address them ? I doubt it.On my road in Hanwell, I was enthused to see a guy in a high-vis jacket the other day, highlighting damaged paving slabs to be replaced but was amazed to see the amount that were untouched that needed replacing.

Isn't it interesting to note how many nice safe Labour wards are having roads resurfaced.There are many worse roads aroung Ealing Common but they, of course, don't vote for Bell's Buffoons. I should add that I live nowhere near Ealing Common.

Also missing is repaving the south side footpath in Pitshanger Lane running east from Princes Gardens. An utter disgrace, has not been resurfaced for about 20 years, dug into, chopped and repatched by every undertaking known to man. Puddles in mild weather and large patches of ice in winter, a health and safety hazard to anyone with walking difficulties. Approaches to the previous administration's ward councillors were dismissed with arrogance or ignored.
