Recycling Truck noise

As far as I'm aware, local by-laws mean that builders aren't allowed to make any noise when working until 8.00am at the earliest, so how come I'm woken up every Monday morning at 7.30am by the noise of crashing bottles from the Recycling Truck?  With the previous lot, they came past at 7.30am on a Monday collecting black bin bags (quietly) and the recycling truck didn't arrive until mid-morning.  This lot seem to deliberately make as much noise as possible to make sure that everyone is woken up!

Alternatively, if you don't want to stretch to a pair of ear plugs, some nice cheese will do the same job and when you wake in the morning, hey presto, instant breakfast in bed!!

Boots have ear plugs specially made for the noise from recycle vehicles.

"...Council is likely to take action..."Oh no it won't!They repeatedly failed to act on my wife's complaints when the new flats were being built on The Avenue (by the railway line) despite the officer concerned turning up to take noise readings prior to permitted times and agreeing that the contractor was in breach.

With absolute certainty I know that it was written into the contract that May Gurnell were only allowed to collect rubbish after 7.00am. So 7.30am would be fine.I don't know about Enterprise, but I would assume that the same condition applies.

The recycling service is poor enough without "nasty noisy truck how dare they?" complaints delaying their work. I seriously doubt (and hope) that the Council will take any action.

Just found this on the Ealing Council web site:"The Council’s Environmental Health Service has powers to control noise and disturbance during building works.  It considers that normal and reasonable working hours for building sites are from 8.00 am to 6.00 pm Monday to Friday, from 8.00 am to 1.00 pm on Saturday and not at all on Sundays or Public Holidays.  If any activities take place on the site beyond these times which give rise to noise audible outside the site the Council is likely to take action requiring these activities to cease."So surely this could be applied to the Recycling Truck as well?  Puts me in a bad mood every Monday!!

I'm retired so I don't need to get up early any more! It used to be 8:00am in Kensington & Chelsea when I worked there. Is Ealing different?

Building works 'permitted hours' are 7:00am-8:00pm Monday-Saturday.Unless you can persuade your neighbours to recycle plastic and paper only (nice and quiet) you're stuck with it.I'd get up earlier (unless you work nights or shifts)!
