What's your favourite type of bread? There are so many - pitta, naan, soda, rye, focaccia, crusty, baguette, bagel etc etc. Which one's your favourite staff of life?

Don't forget they're closing most of the A&Es, Gerry.

Wow, great to see patriotic breakfasts of the Welsh and the Irish kind. To complete the homeland quartet, hows about some stonemilled porridge with oatie bannocks and butter ... and fried bacon 'n eggs with a helping of bubble 'n squeak!

Not really a bread but with St. David's Day approaching I have to put in a 'vote' for my wife's Bara Brith (Welsh speckled bread) served warm with a pice of Caerphilly cheese on it. Heaven.

Don't believe a word of it. It must have been a glass of red breakfast wine (beaujolais), surely? Essential to help digest the Brie if nothing else.

Just had a historic bread breakfast - slices of Puliaese bread with butter and runny brie, followed by a large glass of freshly squeezed orange juice. Life doesn't get any better than this!
Not a big bread eater but like Warburtons farmhouse sliced loaf. Also nothing like a fresh crusty roll with thick butter !!!

In recent years I have found that Parkers bread can have a tendency to the dry.Not as bad as much of Waitrose's bread, but nonetheless it seems to dry out a lot quicker than it did a few years ago.I know people that have switched to getting their bread from the place on New Broadway (near Kitchen Ideas) and I have to say that having sampled some of it when round their place a couple of weekends ago I am contemplating doing the same and switching myself.

The Tesco in Northfield Avenue is an Express. Tesco Metro is in the central Ealing Mall. The Express sells La Brea bread, which is also very good: I recommend the walnut loaf.

Love Parker's bread and some of their cakes are historic. Almost all their stuff is baked on the premises and their staff are so helpful and they smile too.I adore their granary bread with some cheese, sticks of celery and a mixed salad on the side. And in cold weather days like today, I find comfort in their crusty rolls and wholemeal baps with hot Scotch broth a perfect lunch. Bread can be the staff o'life.

Parker's on Northfield takes some beating too.Their granary loaf, thick sliced is lovely and their barm cakes and rolls ditto.

Next to the Tesco Metro on Northfield Avenue (on the next corner), Créperie Cila has a varied selection of freshly baked loaves every day, made on the premises. We had a lovely crusty sourdough from them yesterday.

Is spelt bread good for ones digestion?
Tesco Metro - is that the one in Northfield Ave?
Spelt bread is very nice.I sometimes get it from Bushwackers in Hammersmith.
Oddly, Tesco Metro is very good and their six-grain loaf is my favourite: dense, nutty, delicious.

Forget to ask - what bread shop in Ealing sells the most variety of breads?
