TNT Post update

I had a visit this morning from the West London Delivery Manager for TNT Post to talk to me about our many complaints. He said the complaints had been "escalated" to him in the past week, but I pointed out that our residents' association had been complaining without any resolution since last November.He agreed that there was no reason why the mail delivered in our area (Ealing Common) had been folded unnecessarily and/or not pushed right through the letter slots. He said he would be talking to the team leaders and insisting that they made sure the "delivery operatives" (what we know as postmen or postwomen) were properly aware of their responsibilities. He was particularly concerned about mail from NHS trusts/hospitals taking so long to be delivered and asked that in future the envelopes of delayed mail be kept so that TNT Post could track them back.When I mentioned the complaints from elsewhere in the borough -- particularly about the "operatives" riding their bikes at speed on footpaths and leaving their bikes and mail unattended, he said this had not been brought to his attention. He said it was unacceptable and he would also raise that with team leaders.

As promised: Received on 9th October 2012 in response to my third complaint about cycling down the pavements."I have notified the Delivery Manager and requested all delivery operatives are again reminded that cycling on pavements is in fact against the law and anyone found to be a repeat offender will be dealt with accordingly. A notice has also been put up inside the delivery unit for all delivery operatives to see. I would like to offer my sincere apologies for this on going issue."Made no difference at all as they still ride down the pavement.Not fit to run a bath is a phrase that comes to mind.

Yes, Royal Mail do leave their trolleys unattended, but they are chained to something and locked. The problem with TNT Post is that they use easily-nicked bikes, and as you will have seen on one other posting -- not from me -- a bike was left for 30 minutes with the mail bags wide open.

Perhaps they do, but not for 30 minutes in an open mail bag on an unlocked bicycle as was the case outside my home last week.

Post office people also leave the mail unattended for minutes at a time, don't they?

Absolute twaddle from the TNT "manager".I will dig out, when back home, the 'apologetic' 'we take these items seriously' e-mail which states that the pavement cycling had been raised with the Delivery Manager!!!
