Sorry Gerry, I wrote a long response but it didn't make it onto the site ... So the RV query is now sorted, a campervan. We spent nearly 2 weeks in Costa Rica, arriving in mid monsoon (our summer) in San Jose, the capital. We went to Drake Bay on a small plane and boat. This was in the rain forest, by the sea, with caymans and everything, so no swimming! We did some walks and a boat trip. Then we went to see a real volcano at Arenal, mid Costa Rica, again forests, humming birds everything colourful. There was a stay in a cloud forest (rainforest but in a temperate zone). Last was a few days on the beach in Tamarindo, a surfer dude hang out. We saw quezl. Sloths, scarlet makaws ... As well as loads of iguanas, snakes, many many different types of ants (our son is a fan), cayman, armadillos, I could go on.The food in Costa Rica is unremarkable, but decent, the tap water drinkable, and you can use either costa rican or US dollars.
