Ealing minicab driver rapes young woman

Today, a man from Ealing who was an unlicensed minicab driver was sentenced to 9 years jail for raping a women in terrifying circumstances. My concern is that many of the drivers of these taxi firms are in fact illegal immigrants with forged papers and false names. Some of them can barely speak any English and havent a clue where they are driving so you have to direct them. So why isnt the immigration border control investigating mini cab firms. Doesnt the council have to make any checks? Sometimes I wonder what the council does for the public.

Which is why, with respect, I suggested the 'phone app and booking services. Never had a problem when I have, admittedly infrequently, used them.

Use a black cab. Very, very rarely do licenced black cab drivers feature in such reports.There are plenty of phone applications and simple to remember telephone numbers to ensure that you can hail a black cab without even having to stand in the street

That sounds very good of your niece. Women have to always be careful in a minicab. It can be very scary. What is safer. Travelling by bus in the night or taking a minicab. I would say both are dangerous.

In principle things are supposed to be much improved compared to what they were now that all minicabs are (at least in theory) registered now.My niece always makes a big show of taking a picture of the number plate of the car before getting into it and then makes sure that the driver knows that she has texted the registration number to a friend before they set off.
