I used a Caxton (World) card in Australia a couple of years ago and it worked really well for taking currency out of ATMs and paying restaurant bills etc. The rate was better than anywhere on the high street and, once the card was received and I'd reset my PIN, it was just like using my debit card in the UK.However we made a classic mistake when booking into a hotel and allowed the receptionist to swipe the card as a guarantee against our spending there. When this happens, the card co ringfence that amount and won't give you access to that amount of your money for up to 10 days. Luckily, we paid the bill with another card and a few phone calls cleared the block in 4-5 days.I then used another card in the Eurozone last year, first in Spain and then in Germany. Also useful to be able to logon to my Caxton account from abroad and transfer more money on to the card from my bank account. Excellent. The usual issues apply - trying to judge how much money to put on the card and coming home without having withdrawn that small amount of money left plus being tied into an exchange rate and seeing them fall or rise etc. There is usually a charge for getting Caxton to refund any money left on the card but this can be avoided by taking all the cash out from a foreign ATM before returning home.Do Caxton or any of the other companies allow you to do this with Turkish Lira?
