Bestest coffee in Ealing

There are many coffee cafes in Ealing. Which one is the best coffee outlet and what are the qualities which make it the bestest?

Nasty stuff, ruined by the 'Americanisation' of the process in roasting and preparing.A nice cup of proper leaf tea anytime for me.

BTW.We like Munsons too and call in if we're in that part of Ealing. It's a lovely spot :)

Hi Diane,Electric Coffee Co. are not linked to Munsons. I set up the shop with my wife, Oksana. We love coffee, and, after competing in the UKBC (UK barista competition.. sad but true there is one :) we decided to set up in Ealing. You may have seen Pan (the original owner of munsons) at our shop, he lives nearby and is a friend. Also his brother comes in from time to time. But we are happily independent :)We have some exciting refurbishment plans for April and we value the support we have from all our customers.Call in and say hi :) :)Simon

Hi Folks,Electric Coffee Co. is independent, with no links to Munsons. Founded by coffee lovers Simon & Oksana.Our coffee prices rose by about 10% in Jan. Coffee has risen by 30% recently (rent, rates, etc have too). Price increases are necessary from time to time:( but we continue to offer the best quality coffee from London's small batch roasteries (we're still priced 10-15% less than our West End competitors). Gerry, it was on the corner of Hessel Road. The Polish cafe that's there now is called Apple. The google streetcar must have gone there fairly recently as the olive shop next door already has its shutters down and the for sale board outside, which has only come about in the last few weeks.Chris

Ah... I hadn't know that, Diane. You could be right.Munsons set up Joe's cafe, on Northfield Ave a few years ago. It was very nice but short-lived. Maybe the area wasn't ready for it at the time.Maybe they've been a bit stressed on the few occasions I've been into Munsons. I was given short shrift when I asked for soya milk... not really such an unusual request these days.Chris

I also find the customer service lacking in Munsons. On asking for soya milk I got a very grumpy response. It was as if I'd committed the most terrible faux pas imaginable. I don't think it's such an unusual request these days and just because I have soya milk doesn't mean I don't like good coffee. A few months later, I asked again, hopeful they may have changed their mind - and again, got a very curt reply.The Electric Coffee Co, on the other hand are a really friendly bunch who endeavour to make the customer experience an enjoyable one, rather than to act as if they're doing you a favour by taking your money. Yes, the prices have gone up a bit but they still make a very decent coffee.

I like my coffee too and I wonder if anu of you folks have tried Vietnamese coffee? It has a rich chocolatey flavour and is very good.I order it now and again for a change from Trung Nguyen mail order.They also sell trickle coffee filters made from stainless steel called coffee fins.I use one at work as I think life is too short for instant and they are more robust than a cafetiere.

Agreed, nice place but service is a joke. We had exactly the same experience. I guess they have no incentive to sort it though as it's always packed in there... we need a decent competitor here in South Ealing I think!

I also find Munsons quite 'cliquey' so i generally avoid even though it's just round the corner. I think the prices are very high too.I miss Manana which used to be just over the road, great coffee and beautiful homemade cake.

I don't drink tea or coffee, but do like the occasional hot chocolate. We often get a hot chocolate and chocolate croissant in Pret a Manger, although it's best if it's a busy one as sometimes the croissant can be a bit dry (and the Ealing Pret isn't the busiest....).Costa Coffee does do very good hot chocolate, but does anyone else know of somewhere in Ealing that knows their stuff?

So, it's not just you.... :^)

Munson's certainly does good coffee, cake and excellent savoury bites but falls down massively on their inability  to serve it quickly - it quite regularly takes over 10 mins from order to getting the coffee which for takeaway service is a joke. If you order food and cake together it's not at all unusual for the coffee to arrive long after the cake has been eaten.Munson's are also too up themselves to offer de-caff coffee because it's not "real" (in fact they proudly proclaim this on the board behind the counter). They are entitled to that point of view but equally customers are entitled to possibly conclude that the owners of Munson's don't really give enough of a toss about their customers to offer them a choice.

Been drinking and enjoying coffees in Ealing for years now. Must say Ealing's coffee scene has improved greatly over the last few decades. Recently, we tend to favour Carluccios in The Green and Cote a few doors away - lovely flavour and they never spill coffee in the saucer when they deliver - don't like carrying our coffees ourselves - we always spill! Carluccio's is a bit noisy but their coffees are great.Never tried Tetote Factory near Sth Ealing stn, or Electric ooffee in Haven Green or Papillon in Northfield Ave - must try them soon. Happy drinking.

Tetote Factory;  a friendly Japanese bakery and coffee shop on South Ealing Road that's been going for a year or so now.They do a very nice range of freshly baked cakes which seems to sell out most days AND very good coffee for about £2.http://tetotefactory.co.uk/

Electric Coffee co. gets my vote. Even if they have put up their prices, the coffee is by far the best in the area.

Papillion in Northfields Avenue does good coffee and excellent cakes, breakfasts and lunches at reasonable prices.  Go now while it is there as it can't stay in business with  the current customers.  On my last visit for lunch recently, we were the only customers eating.  There were SIX buggies parked in front of the counter,another parked between tables, four tables(one table the largest) full of mums/nannies with babies,all having coffee only and glasses of water, and three tables with sole men on laptops, one of whom had his paperwork spread over two tables, and each having one empty coffee cup on the table. This was during prime lunch period.  I feel sorry for the very nice people running it.

Electric Coffee co. on Haven Green has delicious coffee and amazing sandwich and cake creations. Unfortunately they're so good they've put up their prices by 15% for the New Year :-(
