TNT deliver complaints -- yet again

TNT has now responded to a formal complaint from our residents' association about the way mail is not being pushed through letter slots, etc etc etc.There have been several assurances from the TNT bosses about training and supervision and even a suggestion the fault lies with the Post Office, not the TNT delivery persons. This morning -- for the umpteenth time -- TNT mail was left sticking out of our letter slot. I caught up with the delivery man and confronted him with our complaints. First of all he said that our letter slots were "too small", and when I demonstrated that this just wasn't true, he switched tack and said his hands were being hurt trying to push mail right through.What do you say to that!?

Speaking with my 'postie' this morning and he is getting very annoyed with TNT's 'operatives'.If they cannot locate and address they are, allegedly, bulk posting their 'leftover' items in the nearest post box expecting Royal Mail to deliver them.He is also being moaned at by customers on his 'walk' about delayed mail; particularly hospital appointment letters and bank statements. He has to explain that they should be looking out for someone in an orange coat as the majority of such items have been 'entrusted' to TNT.

After more than three months of complaints the "delivery operative" in our area was dismissed. But his replacement has generated similar complaints about mail being unnecessarily folded. So much for TNT Post's training!

Into the Royal Mail postbox with it and let them sort it out with TNT.Interestingly there is now a growing petition in Kensington and Chelsea to end the TNT 'pilot' due to lost, stolen and misdelivered mail.http://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/thanks-but-no-thanks-to-tnt-in-k-cThis is one of three petitions (they should have got together methinks) to end the pilot.

So what do I do with a letter wrongly delivered by TNT?  The pillar boxes are Royal Mail ones, I've never seen a TNT delivery person and although I'll put wrongly delivered neighbours'post through their doors addresses further away are out of the question

Absolutely right Viv and justified. Royal Mail have never been paid to deliver this item so they charge £0.50 2nd class postage plus their normal £1.00 'unpaid postage' fee.

Interestingly it seems that TNT has not been required to provide a redirection service either so if you move house, don't expect to see any of your mail via TNT. I am advised that if you put mail for previous occupants in the Royal Mail box with a forwarding address, the recipients then will be charged £1.50 per letter! I am not sure how true the latter is.

We have had the same (pavement cycling) TNT 'operative' (I refuse to use the term postman) for weeks and he still wanders round with a map, cycle unlocked, post on display normally carrying one or two pieces of mail.I do wonder if they are running some form of 'care in the community' programme.

It is possible you have the same "delivery operative" (i.e. postman), but if so, he must have a very large patch.In any case, some of the other repeat complaints have come from W13, so it can't be the same person.

What part of Ealing are you in? My residents' association is in Ealing Common Ward W5 and despite a personal visit from the West London Delivery Manager, David Baker, we have had to make further complaints about mail unnecessarily folded and/or left stick out letter slots, and important hospital letters taking four-six days to deliver. And I also saw a bike left unattended last week with a mail bag open. I suggest all complaints be directed to David Baker at

Twice now I have seen TNT bikes with mail bags open and content visible and stealable, seemingly abandoned with the delivery person elsewhere. At least Royal Mail staff have lockable trolleys which they then lock to lamp posts. The first time I passed one of the TNT bike it had fallen over and I reported it to the 101 police phone number, not realising it hadn't actually been stolen and abandoned.Maybe a campaign of reporting every single incident of "abandoned" mail and cycling on the pavement should be reported to the police? Then they will be overwhelmed and maybe tackle it?

Local MP Mary Macleod has visited the Chiswick TNT postal delivery unit (Feb 12) and welcomed the company's investment in the area. Pity she didn't comment on the poor service. I didn't get my fuel bill from NPower in November and I don't know what else may have gone missing.

I would worry if I was receiving confidentail post delivered by TNT.I gave my car a, long overdue, wash this morning.As i started at around 11:00 a TNT rider (yes, along the pavement as usual) propped his bike on its stand outside my house, leaving the handlebar mail bag open as he took a small bundle of mail to deliver.A  full 30 minutes later (my car was really quite dirty) he returned and rode off along the pavement,For all of this time the mail bag was open with items for delivery clearly visible.I have given up complaining to TNT, the same tired 'we take this issue seriously' rubbish doesn't wash with me, nior am i convinced that they are 'fit and proper' to run an alternative home delivery service based on my observations.

i have had problems with TNT too, they get the number right but the wrong road, are they able to read at all?    it has happenned more than once

Coincidentally, I received another email from TNT Post -- suggesting yet again that their "delivery operatives" might not be to blame for leaving the mail sticking out of the letter slots. This is even though I had spoken to TNT Post persons on two occasions. They did not deny that the mail had been left sticking out. Instead they offered a variety of duff excuses why it had not been possible to push mail right through the slots.  The good news, though, is that the TNT mail now seems to be being properly delivered in our area -- at long last.

We will all rue the day that we allowed private contractors to 'cherry pick' the profitable elements of the Royal Mail and undermine the universal postal service.As I undderstand it, Royal Mail were not allowed to step up to the mark by offering differential pricing, hardly a level paying field.

Sorry to hear you guys are experiencing poor service from TNT. Pleased to report that we've received good service from the few TNT marked letters we've had, especially the important ones from certain NHS hospital trusts. And the TNT delivery man seems pleasant too - at least he doesn't litter our front drive with GPO red rubber bands.

Well, we took our TNT Post problems up with Angie Bray MP and our local councillors. Ealing Today also ran a story. The situation has now improved. Don't know if the "delivery operative" was fired or disciplined, but whatever, TNT Post took weeks to sort out a problem that should have been fixed in a day or two.

It just gets more crackers. First the Ealing Common area delivery person claimed the letter slots were "too small" to push the mail right through, then he said the reason was because the slots "hurt my hand", and now one of the complaining residents has been phoned by a TNT chief to say the mail wasn't being pushed through the letter slot "because you have a dog". No, he doesn't have a dog -- nor do most of the residents known to have complained to TNT -- but of course I cannot vouch that he doesn't have a vicious watchcat or aggressive squirrel lurking in his back garden.Anyway, Angie Bray MP is now on the case.

Five other residents in our street have now lodged formal complaints with TNT -- and they are just the ones I know about. Eventually the message will get through the TNT that it must act.

Well, yes, TNT clients should cease doing business with them, but that is easier said than done, when Charing Cross Hospital uses them, just to name one.

They were out and about cycling on the pavements of Boston Manor ths morning.I am fed up with their LIES that they will put a stop to this.Who to complain to next is the question.
