Mulled wine

Iv'e had a bottle of mulled wine for a couple of years in my cupboard. I have decided to try some tonight. My question is what is the best why to drink this tipple? A friend recommended flavouring it with a fruit of some type. sounds nice but I would prefer other suggestions.

It usually says to drink within 6 months for mulled wine? I have had a look at an M&S one someone gave me for testing - long story but its to do with our school fair and whether you can heat in a microwave. And yes you can!

Haven't a clue as regards orange blossom water.You could use a little  Cointreau or melt a few segments of Terry's chocolate orange into it(grater it first).That might be nice.Good idea with the port George.You could try a splash of Amaretto perhaps.

Wonder if that applies to orange blossom water and if not could Keith perhaps give a view on using this?

I make my own with fairly cheap red plonk.I throw the oranges in as well as Keith's ingredients.Gets far far more interesting if you add some port, brandy and some apricot brandy. Gets people in the street queueing up. I mix it by taste rather than know the quantities.

Surely if it's mulled it already flavoured with spices(cinnamon,cloves,perhaps all spice?) and just needs warming in a pan.Some orange zest might be an idea.Cheers!
