Eric is a shining example of a person who campaigns and sometimes is an activist in the community where he lives. He has helped bring about improvements. He has helped set up an organisation to face up to the authorities on behalf of local people. No people don’t always agree with him, but that is not at all the point in this thread. What evidence is there of the two chief whingers having contributed to the community where they live? One says WE have no ‘powers’. How much more weak and pathetic can a person get? And if others disagree with him he becomes apoplectic rather than enters into intelligent debate. He might do well to consider the last sentence of this battle speech.“We, the choice flower of Britain, were treasured in her most secret places. Out of sight of subject shores, we kept even our eyes free from the defilement of tyranny. We, the last men on earth, the last of the free, have been shielded till today by the very remoteness and the seclusion for which we are famed. We have enjoyed the impressiveness of the unknown. But today the boundary of Britain is exposed; beyond us lies no nation, nothing but waves and rocks….”Only the battle, and not the nation, was lost. And the change sometime later was that Britain became a stronger nation.Did Eric have ‘powers’? Of course not. Using his intelligence and sense of justice he takes powers and delivers results in his endeavour to strengthen the community.  The answer to the chief whinger is to forget the ‘Price’ and think about the ‘Worth’ of intelligent contribution.
