Clayponds Hospital to close?

I thought that this was the sort of thing Dr Mark Spencer was on about. Care in the community, rehabilitation and return to care at home. Last time I went there the place had... call it "good vibes". They did a wonderful job on my neighbour. What on earth is going on?

I now have physiotherapy at Charing Cross after a period at Ealing Hospital during which I had a different therapist(the others had all 'moved on') for each of my first five sessions.

I must add that I did have physiotherapy once in Southall (Lady Margaret Road?) and found the treatment good. Unfortunately, my therapist left halfway through my treatment to work for the NHS on the other side of London. I got the impression that she did not like working for the NHS in Ealing.

Ealing Council does have input into the NHS strategy and operation through various channels and committees, it would be interesting to see what has been discussed about this and where (if such information is in the public domain).

I too have heard good things about Clayponds Hospital, however it comes as no surprise to me that somewhere in Ealing would be closed in priority to somewhere in Southall. It fits the anti-Ealing pro-Southall politics.

I have been here for physio and agree with positive comments made.  Not good news if it closes.

Big thank you M&N. Sometimes I think I am the only person who knows and cares. I haven't got a complete handle on the facts hence the question mark. Really good to know I am not alone. That makes 4 of us the other is Councillor Yoel Gordon. Tell your mates please.

It is a brilliant place for stroke care.My late father received wonderful care there 20 years ago and a good friend has just been sent home, admittedly having had a few issues**, after two months there.The whole atmosphere is one of caring and the 'joined-up' rehabilitation services would be difficult to replicate on a larger scale.**Largely down to an outbreak of MRSA and the subsequent deep-clean which meant that his sleep was badly disrupted for over a week (when they clean at Clayponds, they REALLY clean).

It's a brilliant centre of excellence. I can vouch for that. Underrated.And has what every hospital should be...Peaceful.But ideal for local outpatients who are working as it is easy to get to with just a short walk from the bus and easy to park. I had physio treatment there and could be sure 8.45 meant 8.45 and still get to work on time.Then the next time treatment was needed I was sent to Southall. Ended up having to take half a day off each time. Places like this are vital, they do not seem to realise just how big the local populus is and that Southall is a big, big town in it's own right as is Ealing and a single centre just does not work...anywhere.
