Southall Broadway to be Reshaped as a Boulevard.

I had the opportunity to look at the plans and dicuss it with the Project promoters . It looked enticing the way it was presented . Tree lined, and the landscape furnished with benches and Good lighting . The promoters ensured the scene was kept free from shoppers and pedestrians.It did not look real.When i read through the rest of the proposals ,I feared we were being sold a false dream. It can never be achieved .Pull the other one.

This  project would create can even bigger scruffy area with more slummy streets.... Waste of public money .....

Re  No idea at all.         xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx  Thanks, you answered very tactfully, but revealingly. Inter alia, it means the population of the L B of E is AT LEAST 30000 understated, more if other parts of the Borough are similarly affected, even if to  a lower extent than Southall.. I wonder who the " unknowns/unofficials " are and why. And how the Leader of the Council could not have known re the  national scandal in which our dear Borough is now tainted with in view of his closeness with the MP for that area, who surely must have known what was going on ages ago? So why all the silence. I don't care what anyone says, Ealing ain't what it used to be, certainly not what it was even 20 years ago, so what the hell will it be like in another 20-25.

No idea at all.All 15 Southall Councillors are Labour.Julian Bell Labour Leader of Ealing Council works as a political researcher for the Labour MP for Ealing Southall Virendra Sharma.Southall with an official population of 90,000 and an unofficial population of 120,000+ needs a lot of money spent on it raise residents out of poverty , poor housing conditions and overcrowding.

Re  at the present Austere times      xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx  does seem an unnecessary expense but looks as though the current Council are spending a lot of money in Southall in particular?  Any particular reason?

Yes Tony . It seemed so unreal, i doubt why this is even being considered at the present Austere times. I am waiting to see what the politicians are really trying to achieve.Are they deflecting the growing unease among voters of tomorrow.?

Re  kept free from shoppers and pedestrians              xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx    I know nothing about this Os, so please excuse my ignorance but how can Southall Broadway be denuded of shops and pedestrians. Where will the existing ones go and what is the purpose of this  proposed pedestrian free boulevard, and who is going to sit on the benches if no pedestians allowed. Seems a tad strange?
