NHS North West London Invalid Consultation
I was proud to join a rain sodden band of politicians, patients and activists handing in thousands of petition signatures at the offices of NWL NHS in the Marylebone Road this week. NHS NWL have to assume that unlike Mark Stevens/Colm Costello these are real people who really care and that they have added their real signatures. Unfortunately in the hard copies of the consultation response booklet NWL/IpsosMori offered no opportunity to add ones signature as a simple validation device. Thus people with the same low standards as Mark Stevens could fill in many copies leaving the consultation open to manipulation. Further and more importantly the response booklet failed to ask for a complete postcode. This helps to validate the signature and the name. More importantly on analysis postcodes enable the responses to be plotted. This could accurately identify areas/roads which might contain "hard to reach" groups from which consultation responses were not received. This week I received an email from NHS NWL asking me to try to identify such groups even though the consultation has finished. The consultation is only a tiny element of the proposed changes but it looks incompetent. Are all the proposals delivered in this consultation equally flawed?
